The magic of the elements of struggle embodied in a flap that plugs into the Micro-USB slot (the armed headphone jack no apparent need for protection), and a rubber gasket joints beneath the flimsy back cover in the gaps to maintain the essential components of the accumulation of particles and droplets.
However, you better make damn sure that the loading flap is for sure that the back cover is firmly in place, and has pressed firmly AT & T logo on the back to complete the seal. Otherwise, you'll end up with a waterlogged phone even a bag of rice might not be able to fix. And yes, I know first hand after drowning my first review unit.
Of course, some people remove the rear cover as I do, so most of aqua so users will only really have to
worry about charging port seal.
This rubber gasket seals the deal diet, maintaining clean and dry components.
Even after successfully dipping the phone, keep in mind that the ratings of IP67 Active S4 clear that for dives of up to one meter below the surface - which is a little over 3 meters - and to a maximum of 30 minutes. Any longer than that and still working, but it is starting to play with fire.
All told, used aqua active mode was a lot of fun, and I would absolutely take the drink for a quick casual snorkeling and keep it handy at a pool party. Evaluate performance S4 underwater active in the camera section below, so keep reading!
Design and construction
I'll go ahead and say I love the buttons on the Galaxy S4 Navigation physical assets and bright colors - teal, orange, and well, more buttoned-gray. In fact, I take the S4 Galaxy flagship design any day. I just wish that Samsung had gone ahead and added a button physical camera shutter along the spine to match all navigation keys.
The asset is shown in teal, orange flame and a more sober gray shadow.
Side by side, the asset is a hair taller than the original, S4: 5.5 inches high by 2.8 wide by 0.36 inches thick. It is slim enough to carry in your pocket, but a touch too high to carry comfortably for long periods. A 5.4 ounces versus 4.6, which is slightly heavier than S4, too.
You'll see more differences when you flip phones to see their backs. Besides his aforementioned rubber bumpers, camera modules and flash are more square than the rounder mounts S4. The power and volume buttons are also thicker and easier to press, and the headphone jack is sealed quietly.
Samsung Galaxy S4 active, left, next to the original S4.
You will find a difference when you look at the 5-inch touch screen, and that is the use of an LCD panel active S4 instead of the usual Samsung AMOLED screen. LCD Colors tend to be less juicy and more natural, but also display technology can achieve higher luminosity, theoretical benefit for this type of outdoor activities. In practice, both screens will have to squint and shade screen in daylight.
Physical buttons together active navigation are responsive and easy to press.
Operating System and Applications
As with the Galaxy S4, the asset is run Jelly Bean Android 4.2.2 operating system, crowned by Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz interface.
There are some minor omissions, such as double shot mode GS4's camera, for example, and a setting to turn the LED flash to a torch can be activated when the screen is off. A persistent flashlight is definitely useful for outdoor activities like camping, but also useful for a lot of interior scenes, too.
For a summary of the operating system features GS4 family, read more in the full article Galaxy S4.
Aqua mode
Aqua Mode is characteristic of active real murderer, but comes with caveats. I learned this after spending hours with the device in two different groups.
Select Aqua mode implementation of the camera.
To begin, select Aqua mode the mode list the camera before taking a mate, and choose whether to turn on the volume button a fixed shutter button or video. Why? Because touch screens do not work well when submerged, I tried it just to see what happened.
You forget this, however, is natural, and sometimes even be able to monkey with the onscreen controls while the screen is above the water. This reckless behavior usually resulted in me inadvertently zoom on people or start video when you really wanted to take a still image. Oh, well, that's what is to erase.
Aqua mode using the volume control or take still pictures or video when wet.
Image quality was unpredictable underwater. There is no focus on Aqua mode, so you have to adapt and adjust itself around the fixed focus. That's going to make you miss some shots for sure, but take enough and you're bound to do something that you can work.
To make things more frustrating, the screen - and therefore the subject - is barely visible under the water, so there is some conjecture where direct active and how long to keep clicking. Since the goal is all the way at the top of the phone (on the left or right while holding in landscape mode), that's a little more mental math to do until you get used to things.
The picture quality is unpredictable with fixed focus and without good visibility.
By clicking the volume button to take a photo is another move to get used to, and a reason why a camera hardware button would be useful.
Cameras and Video
The big concern for most photographers is how much is sacrificed when he resigned to 13 megapixel camera S4 Galaxy 8 megapixel meeting the asset. The answer is: not much.
I shot this picture, then resize, auto mode is used asset. Here it is again at full resolution.
Before the S4 came out, an 8-megapixel shooter as it pumps sharp, colorful pictures taken outdoors in auto mode. Original is lost GS4 double throw capabilities that overlap with the first image of the camera against the back, but that's a bit of a gimmick anyway.
The camera did a good job with this rose, taken in sunlight above. Here is the flower at full resolution.
A more important consideration in my book is how much he cares about Aqua mode to begin with, and if you're a photographer night. There are plenty of ways to deal here motion, night scenes, and lots of other scenarios, but the automatic mode is only weak in some indoor lighting situations and generally abysmal low light scenarios - which is an area Samsung has to continue working without turning to another setting.
This tomato was shot in the shade. The colors are exactly powder
Even if you do not use Aqua mode (requires premeditation), the supply of the camera is still strong for photos, videos and self-shots. If you like the look and feel of the phone, I do not get hung up on megapixels alone.
